Illustrated cell

In one 60-day trial, blood biological age rose on placebo (39.8 → 45.4 years) and held steady with 600 mg of NMN a day (45.2 → 44.1 years, not a significant change). Yi et al., GeroScience 2023.

Imagine your birthday age, and the age your body lives.

Two ages: the one on your birthday and the one your body lives. One is counted in candles. The other is estimated from your biology.

THE STUDY

In one 60-day trial, biological age rose on placebo. At 600 mg of NMN a day, it held steady.

Blood biological age estimated from 19 blood markers (Aging.Ai 3.0), a secondary outcome. 80 healthy adults aged 40–65, 20 per group (placebo, 300, 600 or 900 mg NMN daily); 600 mg group shown. One trial, funded by the ingredient's manufacturers. Yi et al., GeroScience 2023.

The NAD+ pathway

From NMN to NAD+
to the mitochondria

Three steps on one hairline. Each model is built from published structures and drawn to the same scale family.

  1. 01

    NMN

    Nicotinamide mononucleotide

A nucleotide that cells convert into NAD+.

  2. 02

    NAD+

    Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide

A coenzyme found in every living cell.

  3. 03

    Mitochondria

    The cell's energy organelles

Where NAD+ takes part in cellular energy metabolism.

Research notes

What the studies look at

Researchers study NMN as a precursor the body can convert into NAD+. Studies of human skin tissue and in animals have found NAD+ levels tend to be lower later in life.

Both ingredients come up in sirtuin research. Sirtuins are proteins that depend on NAD+, first shown in yeast, and NMN is studied in that same body of work. Early laboratory studies reported that resveratrol could activate sirtuins; later research has questioned how this works, and it is still being studied. This shared research context is why scientists often look at them together. It does not describe what Anera products do in the body.

Research, not a product claim.
